Amy Szostak

Amy Szostak passed away earlier this year. Her pictures are sad and shocking, and, delightful! Does that sound strange? She had a special gift for storytelling in pictures and in words. She was very frank about topics that are scary to talk about, eg rape, vikings, Michael Jackson, lesbians, Camilla Parker Bowles,, and at the same time very funny. She transcended her intellectual disability to became famous in New Zealand for her artwork, singing and acting. Amy was a viking in a past life, she was a "Special Star" in the one she has just had, and I reckon she will be another awesome something in the next one.

  1. I didn't know that she had passed away, how sad! Her work is incredible, so funny and bold. She had such a take-no-prisoners style.

  2. Here is a link to a clip from a programme called Good Morning that Amy was on. Amy and Jo Randerson are talking about an exhibition she's in. She's a total pro... so at home on TV! http://tvnz.co.nz/view/video_popup_flash_skin/1960564
