Rush, Made in Victoria, With Chris in it as a Police Officer - Launch on Friday 13th

This Friday July 13,
Chris O'Brien and I are launching our book

at Wooly Bully in North Melbourne.

Chris and I have been drawing together regularly
for the last eighteen months. We have compiled
a book of drawings inspired by the locally made
police television drama Rush. We are characters
in the book, and the Rush team is too. Some old
houses in Northcote are characters,
and a thunderstorm. So are lots of our friends.
You better watch out if you know us
because you might be a character in it too.

There will be an edition of 50 hand made books
available on the evening. There will also be
original artwork from the book on display
at Wooly Bully.

After the launch, R,MIV,WCIIAAPO
will be available from Wooly Bully.

Here are the details in summary:

Launch
Friday 13th July
5 - 6.30pm

at Wooly Bully
104 Errol Street
North Melbourne VIC 3051
(03) 9329 5820

The 57 tram stops close by,
on the corner of Errol and Queensberry Streets.

We would love to see you there.

Cats from 1952

Steve lent me a photo of the winning AFL team from 1952.
It was the Geelong Cats.
The photo is taken in the club room.
In the background, really small and fuzzy,
you can just make out 4 funny cartoon cat mascots.
Steve, these are for you next time I see you
and I've got your photo too.

Funny old night up at Gertrude Contemporary art opening

Friday 12th Nov, heavy rain. There was a normal art opening going on downstairs in the gallery. In the top space upstairs there was a nice party with some older people ballroom dancing to Taiwanese pop music. You could learn how to dance to that kind of music with one of the experts if you asked them, or if they asked you. There was home made party food which was made by Michael the host, and some other people, and Michael walked around with a tray and offered it to the guests. In this picture you can see Michael in the late stages of his long thank you speech. He didn't have any notes and he had a lot of people to thank. This is a picture of him trying not to forget anyone.

Thumbs Up Stack

The Thumbs Up Stack is an invention my sister Caroline and I made whilst feeling good on the aeroplane to Japan in 2008. It turned out to be a nice alternative to the peace sign when posing for travel photos, and an especially good and inclusive thing to do when you don't speak the same language as the people around you, but you all want to somehow express to each other that you are having a good time.

Crate Skates

This is a tiny little picture of a man from a dream I had.
He was rolling through a big puddle on skates he had made from cutoff milk crates.
